FREE SCHOOL MEALS (FSM)

As of 6th April 2020, we will not be providing packed lunches that can be collected from the school.  Free School Meal vouchers will instead be sent to parents/carers directly by email from Edenred.  Please be mindful that this can take up to a week to process.

Thank you for your interest in Summerhill Primary Academy.  For those parents who have children joining us for the first time, we welcome you and look forward to a happy and successful association throughout your child’s time at Summerhill.  We are also pleased to continue in partnership with those parents who already have a child or children with us.

I have been lucky enough to be involved with Summerhill Primary Academy as Headteacher for ten years.  It is a real privilege to work with such talented pupils and committed staff on a day to day basis.  In our last Ofsted inspection in February 2015 we achieved a good grading with many outstanding grades and our aim now is to become an overall outstanding school within our community.

Summerhill Primary is a 4-form entry primary school which caters for pupils from 3 to 11 years old. Within each class the children work in both ability and mixed-ability groups ensuring all children are supported and challenged at a level which is appropriate for their ability.

As a school, we are committed to creating a happy and vibrant community, where everyone feels valued, where students are stretched and supported academically and are given memorable experiences that excite them about learning for life.

We aim to build a strong relationship between home and school where trust, understanding and support form the basis of a shared responsibility for preparing children to be successful citizens in an ever-changing society. We have the highest expectations of all students in every area of the school life and our uniform and behaviour policy are strongly supported by governors, students, parents and staff and helps support our team ethos at Summerhill.

We welcome and encourage parents to play a full part in their child’s education and school life and you will find many opportunities to join us to talk about and to take part in your child’s journey through our school.

We hope you will find our website useful in helping make the time spent at Summerhill enjoyable and rewarding.

Miss K. Rochester

Executive Headteacher

All of our staff are dedicated and are passionate about raising standards and improving the life chances of our children.  We encourage all of our children to 'Reach for the Stars!'

The school has a broad and balanced curriculum that is further enhanced by a range of trips, events and exciting extra-curricular activities such as a Football, Cricket, Dodgeball and Martial Arts alongside other 'less strenuous' pursuits such as Arts and Crafts, Drama, iPad and Breakfast Club (we review and provide new clubs each term).

Together,
reach over
the rainbow

We also have a high quality childcare provision with lots of fun activities for pupils; The Extra Time Club, which runs daily between 3:30pm and 6.00pm.  At Summerhill Primary Academy we also have special focus events throughout the year when the children, staff and visiting specialists work on exciting art, technology, cultural, language and science projects.

We believe that good attendance improves the life chances of children and enables them to reach their full potential.

The school's and current Government target, specify that attendance should be around 95% for the academic year and does allow for genuine illnesses. We are proactive in asking all parents to support us in providing medical evidence for all absences if their child's attendance is 93% or below.

We also value networking and making links with other institutions, services and groups.  We are involved in a number of partnerships with other schools, local community and voluntary organisations - where we work closely to raise standards, enhance teaching and learning and procure other services and goods.

We are also part of Summer Park Multi Academy Trust.  Please click this link if you wish to learn more.

The school underwent a successful Ofsted Inspection in February 2015 in which it was judged as providing a good education for the pupils. Full copies of this report are available on request from the front office, or through OFSTED at www.ofsted.gov.uk.

All visitors are welcome to our school. We operate an open door policy and we are more than willing to meet you and give you a guided tour of our superb school and introduce you to our pupils and staff!
